Mixing is the second step in the recording process. Mixing records is a very complex, detailed skilled art, and while the recording process is important, it’s the mixer that finalizes the artist’s vision. Mixing is where all the individual tracks are combined and blended to create a stereo mix. During the mixing process audio is edited, effects are added, and sound levels are corrected. Mixing allows the engineer to remove unwanted noise, and delete, copy, or move recorded audio to other places on the track. Mixing is extremely important because it brings harmony and balance to the entire track.
